Leah Haymond, LCSW
Leah is also trained in Eye Movement Reprocessing and Desensitization (EMDR).
She graduated from California State University, Fresno in 2018 with a Master of Arts in social work, and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She treated people for severe mental illness through the Department of Behavioral Health for 4 years, then joined Allay.
Leah practices Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and is a member of a DBT clinicians’ consultation team to ensure high quality of care. As the lead DBT clinician at Allay, Leah is working to build Allay’s DBT program and currently facilitates the weekly DBT-informed skills group focused on teaching the skills of mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness. The group aims to help clients improve their relationships, reduce depression and anxiety, and work through other issues or conditions that impact people’s ability to cope and function effectively amid life’s many challenges.
Leah is also certified in Eye Movement Reprocessing and Desensitization (EMDR). Trained through the EMDR Humanitarian Assistance Programs, Leah works with people who have experienced trauma to process memories rapidly and efficiently. Once a person can self-regulate their emotions, they can do this deep trauma work to address underlying reasons for symptoms like intrusive memories, fear that something bad will happen, feelings of worthlessness, flashbacks, nightmares, and getting triggered by things that remind a person of the disturbing event.
Leah’s clients enjoy her structured approach to therapy and appreciate her ability to help them navigate challenges efficiently by helping to establish concrete skills that are useful in everyday life.
