Dr. Reshale L. Thomas, PsyD
Dr. Thomas is a licensed clinical psychologist, founder and owner of Allay Psychological Services. In 2009, Dr. Thomas completed her bachelor’s degree in psychology and minor in piano performance at Fresno Pacific University. She went on to Fuller Theological Seminary-Graduate School of Psychology to earn her Master of Arts in Psychology in 2012, Master of Arts in Theology and Ministry (MATM) in Spring of 2015, and Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Psychology (PsyD) in Fall of 2015.
Dr. Thomas has worked and trained in some of the most underserved communities in the Southern California area, including El Monte, Watts, and with the Los Angeles Christian Health Centers and Los Angeles Mission on Skid Row. Her final year of training was spent at Philhaven Behavioral Health in Central Pennsylvania, where she underwent specialty training working with Old Order Amish and Mennonite Communities. Dr. Thomas’ areas of interest include trauma and resilience; multicultural issues; spirituality and health; creative arts and wellness; program planning, development and evaluation; and integrated medical and behavioral health care.
As a licensed psychologist, Dr. Thomas works with individuals and families from all backgrounds and walks of life to address issues including depression, anxiety, grief/loss, difficult life transitions, aging, workplace stress, and trauma. Dr. Thomas brings a warm, nonjudgmental presence to the therapeutic process. Her clients enjoy her sense of humor and ability to draw from multiple treatment modalities including cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and interpersonal therapy.
In 2022, Dr. Thomas joined the leadership team at a local agency as the Interim Clinical Manager and Training Director, providing clinical supervision and department management for clinicians working with individuals and families impacted by domestic violence. Dr. Thomas is currently pursuing her M.S. in Clinical Psychopharmacology at Alliant International University-CSPP and is an adjunct professor at Fresno Pacific University, where she teaches Psychobiology/Psychopharmacology and guest lectures.
Dr. Thomas is passionate about improving health and wellness in communities impacted by stigma toward mental illness and mental health treatment. Dr. Thomas regularly provides mental health education workshops and symposiums for community agencies and organizations, including churches. Dr. Thomas is a member of Division V of the California Psychological Association (CPA), which focuses on expanding access to comprehensive mental health care through prescriptive authority for psychologists. She is also a member of the San Joaquin Valley Psychological Association (SJVPA) and American Psychological Association (APA).
When not doing clinical work, Dr. Thomas can be found working out, coordinating music at her church, or being followed around at home by her little broke best friend.
